SEObook Free Thesis Skin

Last week Aaron Wall over at SEObook.com released the site's old design as a free WordPress template.

As a huge fan of the site, I was eager to get my hands on the design and start customizing it for an ongoing project. Unfortunately, Aaron released the design as a full fledged WordPress theme, and I'm pretty much addicted to the Thesis theme.

And, when the first comment on the SEObook post was someone else asking for the design as a Thesis skin, I realized others might get some use out of the skin if I were to convert it.

So after receiving Aaron's permission, I ported the design over (with a spot of help from my buddy Michael VanDeMar) and I'm pretty happy with the result.

If you're interested, feel free to demo the design or download it for yourself.

Installation

If you're new to the whole Thesis skin concept, don't worry. Installation is pretty darn simple.

The first step to take is to back up your current Thesis Settings and the Custom folder within your Thesis folder. While I've tested the skin pretty thoroughly, it's never a bad idea to have a backup ready in case something goes wrong.

Once you have your backups, simply download and unzip the file.

Within the unzipped folder, you should find a thesis-all-options-20110209.dat file, and a folder named Custom. Navigate to the Thesis folder on your webserver and upload the Custom folder overwriting your current files.

Then in your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Manage Options page under the Thesis section.

Thesis Skin install options

Date Settings

Select the thesis-all-options-20110209.dat from the unzipped SEObook Thesis Skin folder and click the Upload button.

Custom Date Options

The final step for completing the installation is to modify the date settings within your WordPress installation. Navigate to the General settings page (under the Settings section of your left hand navigation) and scroll down to the Date Format options. Select the Custom option, and enter M j as seen in the image above.

Customize to taste, and enjoy!

Support

You know the saying you get what you pay for? Yeah, well this skin is free. Feel free to post any questions or problems you might have in the comments below, but answers are going to be sporadic at best. If the question is urgent, you're going to be better off asking it in the Thesis support forum.

More Free Skins

If the SEObook design isn't your cup of tea, don't worry.

We have several more Thesis skins for download over at WPblogger.com!

Hi there mate

i’ve used this skin and it’s fantastic. I’m having one hiccup and that is in the menu when I add in drop downs to pages. The dropdown seems to be invisable until you slide over the pages letters then (only) that part appears while the other part is still transparent.

Is there a way to add a color to the drop down? is that what I have to even do?

any help would be great mate and thanks again for doing this skin it’s very well done mate !

Grant, it sounds like you’d just need to set a background color to the submenu (which would be a CSS issue) but unfortunately we don’t offer specific support on a free skin like this. We’d love to but we just don’t have the bandwidth for that sort of thing.

I’m glad you like the design though, it was awesome for Aaron to allow us to offer it.
